NBS Television has positioned itself as Uganda’s political command centre ahead of Thursday’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections, promising nationwide, real-time coverage backed by data-driven reporting, advanced technology, and rigorous editorial safeguards.
Dalton Kaweesa, Head of Current Affairs at Next Media Services, told NBS Morning Breeze on Tuesday that the broadcaster is committed to delivering fast, verified, and accurate information to Ugandans throughout the electoral cycle.
“NBS Television has positioned itself as Uganda’s political command centre. With reporters embedded nationwide and a central verification hub, we are delivering wall-to-wall, data-driven election coverage comparable to global broadcasters,” Kaweesa said.
He explained that NBS has instituted strict safety, ethical, and operational protocols to guide teams on the ground, including contingency plans for security disruptions and a zero-tolerance policy on unverified or misleading information.
“Our teams operate under strict safety and ethical protocols. We apply rigorous editorial oversight, real-time fact-checking, and balanced representation to ensure credibility and maintain public confidence, especially in a highly polarised environment,” he added.
The announcement follows a major deployment exercise on Monday, where Next Media Services flagged off 146 journalists tasked with covering the elections across all districts.
The ceremony at Next Media Park in Naguru was led by Group CEO Kin Kariisa and marked a key milestone in the organisation’s election preparations.
Journalists were equipped with protective gear, field vehicles, and advanced technology to facilitate live reporting and real-time story filing.
Kaweesa emphasised that the combination of training and modern broadcasting tools is central to NBS’s strategy.
“We are integrating broadcast journalism with digital immediacy—live dashboards, social media verification, and constant updates—so citizens get fast, reliable information wherever they are,” he said.
Kaweesa assured viewers that the 2026 election coverage will be a major upgrade over previous cycles, enhancing professionalism, expanding reach, and strengthening public trust.
“In this environment, our role as NBS is to be a stabilising force. Our responsibility is to inform the public with accuracy and balance, and to ensure that credibility remains at the centre of everything we do,” he said.
